Start to Write (fiction)
Saturday 5 November 2016, 10-4pm
Sydney & Melbourne

Learn to write fiction with a pro

On this one-day, hands-on course you’ll be taught to write by award winning novelists Kathryn Heyman (Sydney) or Paddy O’Reilly (Melbourne).

  • What are the crucial ingredients of a great story?
  • What makes a great opening?
  • How do you know what to leave in and what to take out?

You'll be writing inside Allen & Unwin’s publishing house, getting instant responses and experimenting with structure and techniques. Afterwards you’ll be entitled to our alumni discount (15% off all future courses forever!) If you're considering our long fiction course Writing a Novel (3 months), both of these tutors also teach that course so you’ll get to sample their excellent teaching before you book.

‘I could not have had a better tutor. Kathryn was engaging and entertaining and I have learnt so much from her.'
Kim, Sydney 2015

'Paddy was a fantastic tutor. I've done a lot of creative workshops and this was one of the best...I wholeheartedly recommend this course to anyone who wants to write but doesn't know where to start.'
Samantha, Melbourne, 2014
